In 2015, a year after founding High Camp, I spoke at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco about the “Future of Floral Design.” At the time, we were the only flower company shipping flowers overnight, direct to consumer.
Today we remain the first and only company to ship the gardenia, year-round, “cut-to-order” farm to door.
Shipping Gardenias has opened many doors I could not possibly have imagined.
As a beloved and classic bloom, people remember the flower in a grandmother’s yard, a coastal home, as a cherished southern tradition or a long-time subtle tie to the scent of a loved one.
Since 2014, we have worked to extend the way gardenias are experienced from beach to city to mountain to vine, and year-round to include all four seasons.
Gardenias have a language all their own. Elegant, charming, and opulently fragrant, their beauty imprints the recipient with a deeply seeded memory. Intoxicating, graceful, and sexy all at once, gardenias are one of a kind.
Our flowers are delivered in a “loose, un-tied chic” “bird nest” of on-stem gardenias on the vine, and blooms intended to float freely, all in the style of the recipient, in vessels of their choice.
Why?
If you received a bouquet of flowers, no matter how gorgeous, and placed it in your living room for guests to enjoy…the guests may be touched, and appreciative of the beauty. Yet, they will not remember you as a part of the charm.
Yet, if you hand place a single bloom in a teacup next to their guest bed, they will likely never forget.
Your personal touch on every stem or bloom assigns your intention and makes you the creator of each and every vignette.
Is it difficult to do? Not at all if you relax into it. Drop a single stem or bloom on a dinner plate for each guest. Float two or three blooms in a shallow bowl on a countertop or bar.
